The body of these beautiful travel bags is made from sisal fibre. They are handwoven by women in Kenya. These women pull the outer layers of the Sisal plant so as not to destroy or kill it.

Before they can begin to weave, they boil and dye the sisal to make the vibrant colours displayed on these bags. One bag is carefully weaved together over a period of 2-3 weeks.

These bags are perfect for travelling. They have longer straps, so this bag can fit comfortably on your shoulder and is spacious inside, so there's enough room to pack for a getaway.

  • Dimensions Large: Height: 40 cm, Length 41 cm, Width: 18 cm

The Baba Tree Basket Co has been preserving the culture of baskets and the Gurunsi community in Bolgatanga for the last 15 years. It’s here that an exquisitely woven Baba Tree community of over 250 artisans practice a time-honoured weaving technique using elephant grass and their very own “rhythm and flow”. Each basket comes directly from the hands of the artisan weavers we collaborate with - energetic, colourful, purposeful. Each luscious curve is the handprint or signature of the weaver who has expertly handcrafted your basket, we celebrate the unique differences in each and every piece.

This basket is made out of straw and handwoven to make this beautiful but sturdy basket. Is the perfect statement piece to add a bit of Ghana artistry to your home.

Perfect for bringing to the market or for storing towels and blankets in.

The handle is made from leather.

Beautiful organic cotton bag handmade in India using traditional block printing techniques.

This versatile bag is ideal for a shopping expedition, work, or a weekend getaway, making it a must-have for any occasion.

Dimensions: 12 inches wide x 7 inches high

    The Art of Block Printing:

Block Printing is an Indian art form celebrated for its intricate patterns and vibrant colours.

This ancient technique involves carving designs onto wooden blocks, dipping them in dye, and stamping them onto fabric. It is labour-intensive and requires precision, skill, and creativity.

Block printing is a crucial part of India’s cultural heritage, supporting many rural communities and preserving traditional craftsmanship.

    BLOCK PRINTING TECHNIQUE:

    1. Design Carving: Skilled artisans carve detailed patterns into wooden blocks, each representing a different colour in the final design.

    2. Dye Preparation: Traditionally, natural dyes from plants, minerals, and other organic materials are used, though synthetic dyes are common today.

    3. Printing: The blocks are dipped in dye and carefully stamped onto fabric, typically cotton or silk. This process is repeated for each colour in the design.

    4. Washing and Finishing: The printed fabric is washed to remove excess dye, dried, and sometimes undergoes additional treatments for colour fixing and texture enhancement.
