Sheep Wool Pencil Case

This colorful pencil case is hand woven and hand spun by women in Chengdu, West China. The artisans behind it are often disadvantaged Tibetans who have little or no chance of getting into the marketplace and making a living for themselves. They may be single mothers, or perhaps had no access to education. Through the skills training they receive, they are empowered and are able to generate income for their families.
